Pelvic organ prolapse (POP) is an urgent problem of gynecology.
To find out the risk factors for the development and prevalence of POP, to clarify the clinical symptoms and modern ways of preventing POP.
The incidence of POP in the world varies, significantly increasing with the life expectancy of women from 15% to 55%. Risk factors include genetic background, difficult labor, menopause and the ratio between estrogen receptors, previous hysterectomy, connective tissue dysplasia, oxidative stress, obesity, diseases associated with increased intra-abdominal pressure (bronchitis, asthma, constipation), heavy physical exertion. Patients with POP are provided with conservative (the use of gynecological pessaries, intimate gymnastics and physical therapy) and operative medical care.
POP is a problem that does not have a definitive unambiguous solution. The etiology of POP is multifactorial. Currently, conservative methods of treatment and surgical interventions are used for genital prolapse. Knowledge and timely identification of WTO risk factors can contribute to preventive measures.
