The article presents current data on the prevalence of uterine fibroids, risk factors and current theories of the pathogenesis of the disease. The most common symptoms of uterine fibroids and their significance for the somatic and reproductive health of women, as well as for the quality of life of patients are described. Information on the effect of various therapeutic inducers, including estrogen-progestin drugs, on the clinical manifestations of uterine fibroids is given. The results of modern studies of the protective effects of combined oral contraceptives in women with uterine fibroids are described. The paper presents data on the assessment of the quality of life of patients with uterine fibroids with combined hormonal contraceptives usage.
