Preeclampsia is a multifactorial complication of pregnancy. A genetic component in the etiology of preeclampsia according to the results of numerous studies may reach 50%. More than 100 polymorphic variants of genes associated with preeclampsia were revealed. Most relevant is the theory that defines preeclampsia as a multifactorial disease, which is based on genetic and environmental factors. The achievements of modern science in genetics, molecular biology, nano-technology today allow us to consider the etiology and pathogenesis of pre-eclampsia with a completely new positions.
