OBJECTIVE

To study consolidation and remodeling of the vascularized autografts after reconstructive surgery in patients with and without previous radiotherapy.

MATERIAL AND METHODS

The study recruited 30 patients aged 20-65 years with various defects and deformities of the upper and lower jaws. All patients underwent reconstructive surgery with transplantation of the vascularized autografts and subsequent dental implantation. CT-based assessment of consolidation and remodeling of the vascularized autografts after reconstructive surgery and subsequent dental implantation was performed in 6 months after reconstructive surgery and 6 months after dental implantation.

CONCLUSION

Our study specified endosteal and periosteal reactions during consolidation of the vascularized autografts at the stages of reconstructive and restorative treatment. We found different severity of periosteal reaction in patients with and without previous radiotherapy at all 3 levels of autograft measurement. These data make it possible to scientifically substantiate timing of staged reconstructive treatment and dental implantation in these patients.
