BACKGROUND
Currently, in addition to ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is used for the purpose of prenatal diagnosis of pelvic malformations, but there is insufficient topographic and anatomical information on the features of their development and relationships to conduct a standardized examination of the pelvic organs of the fetuses.
OBJECTIVE
Identification and description of standardized sections of the fetal pelvis, which are of the greatest topographic importance for the examination of human pelvic organs in the fetal period of ontogenesis.
MATERIAL AND METHODS
The study was performed on the material of 80 fetal torsos of both sexes at 16—22 weeks of development, without developmental abnormalities. A set of morphological methods was used in the work: the method of cutting according to N.I. Pirogov, histotopographic method with van Gieson staining, macromicroscopic preparation, morphometric method.
RESULTS
The pelvic organs were studied from the level of the LIV — LV disc, since in the study period many fetal organs are projected above the terminal line — the sigmorectal junction, the apex and upper half of the urinary bladder y, the uterus and its appendages, as well as the testes. The article presents illustrations of sections of the human fetuses pelvis at 16—22 weeks of the ontogenesis, made in different planes. Each section at the level of the vertebral bodies and intervertebral disc was described in detail, indicating the sexual and individual characteristics of the organs and structures of the pelvis. The significance of the section for the diagnosis of the main anomalies of the pelvic organs is revealed.
CONCLUSION
As a result of the study, standardized sections of the fetal pelvis in three planes were identified and described, which can be used in interpreting the diagnosis of the fetal pelvis.
