The issues of diagnosis and treatment of early gastroesophageal junction cancer are still the subject to discuss among oncologists, surgeons, endoscopists and pathologists. Tumor location, relative to the Z-line, the histological structure and tumor differentiation level, its size and macroscopic type, depth of invasion are the main factors, influencing the choice of treatment and the prognosis of the disease. This article provides a brief overview, that includes the concept, classification, epidemiology and pathology and treatment options of early junction cancer.
