Abstract:

The paper describes a case of giant gastrointestinal stromal tumor of the small bowel complicated by tumor decay and perforation. After successful surgical treatment, the patient showed disease progression with liver metastatic involvement. Imatinib therapy has resulted in long-term (8-year) stability to the present day.
