Abstract:

One hundred and seventeen patients with Stages IIB and III cancer of the cervix uteri, who had received combined radiotherapy, as well as specific and adoptive immunotherapy, were examined. The time course of changes in the concentrations of a number of cytokines (interleukins -2, -6, -10, and -12 and tumor necrosis factor-α) was determined. The level of anti-inflammatory factors was found to be much greater than that of the factors stimulating lymphocyte proliferation and differentiation when the content of virtually all interleukins was decreased. The degree of impairments depended on the stage of cancer. Specific and adoptive immunotherapy promoted the activation of interleukin production and the liquidation of immunoregulatory imbalance.
