OBJECTIVE

To analyze the structure of diagnosis-related groups for inpatient treatment of lung cancer patients at the Tomsk Regional Oncology Dispensary for the period 2020—2024.

MATERIAL AND METHODS

We performed a retrospective structural analysis of medical care for lung cancer patients in a 24-hour inpatient setting between 2020 and 2024 considering diagnosis-related groups. The number of hospitalized patients and completed hospitalizations was analyzed depending on age, department, diagnosis-related group and drug therapy).

RESULTS

The number of hospitalized patients increased by 13.3%, the number of completed treatments — by 32.5%. Men aged 55—74 years predominated among hospitalized patients. Forty-two diagnosis-related groups were used (25.6±2.1 per year). Level 1 drug therapy was predominant in all age groups in 2020, except for women aged 30—44 in whom levels 2 and 10 therapy predominated (25% each). By the end of study period, level 2 drug therapy was the most popular (in 55.6±7.8% of men and 41.6±12.5% of women), mainly due to higher proportion of platinum-based drug therapy (sh0672, paclitaxel+carboplatin).

CONCLUSION

Men older 55 years predominated among those hospitalized in 2020—2024 (75.0±5.5%). Antitumor drug therapy department led regarding the number of hospitalizations in 2020—2024 (50.5±10.9%). In 2023—2024, these were abdominal and thoracic oncology departments (45.0% and 58.8%, respectively). Forty-two diagnosis-related groups were used for the treatment of lung cancer. In 2024, surgical treatment was used in 11.5±1.6% of men older 55 years and 16.2% of women aged 65—74 years. The most common drug therapy was sh0672 (paclitaxel, carboplatin).
