ABSTRACT The article reports evaluation and dynamics of clinical presentation of papulopustular rosacea and psychoemotional state of patients based on the Diagnostic Scale for Rosacea (DSR) and Dermatology Quality of Life Index (DQLI). Objective — the study was aimed at evaluating the efficacy and tolerability of combination therapy for papulopustular rosacea using 15% azelaic acid gel and 1% clindamycin phosphate gel in combination with cosmetic products. Material and methods. The study was carried out at the outpatient consultative and diagnostic center of the Siberian State Medical University. The study involved 20 patients, including 10 (50%) females and 10 (50%) males. The average age of the patients was 43.2±10.4 years. The patients were diagnosed with papulopustular rosacea. Onset of the disease was observed in 38.8±9.3 years. All patients underwent therapy with 15% azelaic acid gel and 1% clindamycin phosphate gel in combination with cosmetic products. All subjects underwent cross-polarized dermatoscopy using a Dermlite 3gen dermatoscope (USA) connected to a Nicon 1 camera to obtain microimages. Patients’ quality of life was assessed before and during therapy based on questionnaire survey using DQLI scale. Clinical picture of the severity of the disease and its dynamics was assessed using DSR, including extent of lesions expressed as a percentage, objective (papules, pustules, erythema, telangiectasia, edema, ophthalmo-rosacea) and subjective manifestations (burning and tingling). Conclusions. Dermatoscopy of diseased skin is recommended in the cases where it is difficult to diagnose rosacea. Polygonal vessels, follicular plugs, and scaly skin are characteristic of rosacea. Combination topical therapy including application of 15% azelaic acid gel and 1% clindamycin phosphate gel in combination with cosmetics is an effective treatment for papulopustular rosacea, as evidenced by decrease in DSR and DQLI scores.
