Currently, allergic diseases are among the diseases that pose the most pressing socio-medical problem in pediatric and adult populations. The prevalence of allergic diseases is constantly increasing, reaching 30% in adults and 50% in children, respectively. Atopic dermatitis is the most common allergic dermatosis. It is characterized by early manifestation and chronic relapsing course, frequent exacerbations, as well as the lack of effective treatments. Objective. The study is aimed at assessing the efficacy of Whitesorb in the combination treatment of atopic dermatitis. Material and methods. The study involved outpatients (n=60) suffering from atopic dermatitis for more than 1 year. The patients were divided into the control group (n=30) and study group (n=30). Study group patients received Whitesorb 3 times a day for 7 days along with systemic and topical treatment. Clinical state of the patients before, during, and after treatment was assessed using SCORAD index, patients’ quality of life of was assessed using DLQI index. Results. The study involved 60 patients aged 18 to 65 years with mild to moderate erythematous-squamous atopic dermatitis with lichenification during exacerbation. SCORAD value was within the range (16.4; 59.0). Data on the effectiveness of both complex therapies were obtained: SCORAD index decreased by 57.1 and 33.3% in the study and control group, respectively. Complex therapy in combination with Whitesorb resulted in more rapid resolution of atopic dermatitis elements. Conclusion. The study of Whitesorb produced the grounds for positive evaluation of its use in combination therapy of atopic dermatitis.
