Abstract:

We analyzed the long-term results (after 15 and 17 years) of balloon angioplasty of coronary arteries in two patients with acute myocardial infarction. One patient underwent angioplasty of the circumflex artery with an optimal result. Control coronary angiography after 15 years revealed adequate result of the procedure. The second patient underwent recanalization and balloon angioplasty of the left anterior descending artery with good results. After recanalization, we visualized stenotic lesion of the same vessel in the middle third, and successful angioplasty was performed. Control angiography after 17 years revealed favorable result after balloon angioplasty in the middle third and stenosis at the site of previous occlusion. Thus, balloon angioplasty was followed by favorable results in 2 out of 3 cases after 15 and 17 years.
