Abstract:

Pulmonary embolism (PE) is an extremely serious disease characterized by high mortality in industrialized countries. High incidence of disease is determined by difficult verification of true diagnosis, as well as the absence of single treatment strategy in patients with acute PE. Clinical polymorphism is one of the cornerstones of disease determining low percentage of lifetime diagnosis of disease. This review is devoted to modern epidemiological data, systematic analysis of the main diagnostic methods and errors in verifying this life-threatening disease in a multi-field hospital. The authors determined clear indications for open surgery considering their own experience of surgical treatment of patients with acute high and intermediate-high risk PE, as well as literature data.
