Abstract:

The concept of «frailty» becomes increasingly important in clinical medicine due to general consenescence of population. It has already become the part of routine clinical practice as one of the main elements to assess condition and prognosis of surgical treatment of advanced age patients with various pathology. Currently, STS and EuroSCORE calculators are the most common in cardiac surgery to determine surgical risk. However, their reliability leaves much to be desired, especially in elderly patients. Advanced age alone is sufficient to classify these patients as high-risk group. Comprehensive analysis of «frailty» is very important to determine surgical tactics and to improve postoperative outcomes.
