Results of implementation of VEIN CONSULT international research program in this country are reported. It involved 5750 patients (27.20% men and 72.80% women) aged 17-91 years with various forms of chronic venous diseases (CVD). The program included assessment of possible risk factors and manifestations of CVD as well as their influence on the quality of life. Abilities of general practitioners and specialists to make correct diagnosis and choose adequate therapeutic modalities were subjected to special analysis. It is concluded that further comparative epidemiological studies and the development of up-to-date education of both professionals and patients are urgently needed.
