Place of anatomic segmental pulmonary resections still remains to be one of the eternal and unsettled questions in thoracic surgery. Implementation of advanced equipment enables to work out new approaches to solution of a question of resection type for deep lung masses, combining simplicity and reliability of hardware-based resections with anatomic and physiologic features of segmentectomy. The study presents background and results of thoracoscopic segmentectomies with the use of ultrasonic Harmonic scalpel.
