OBJECTIVE

To discuss the rationale for using rutin, inulin, and diosmin as adjuncts to conservative therapy to improve overall symptoms in patients with hemorrhoids.

MAIN POINTS

Hemorrhoids are one of the most common conditions requiring consultation with a colorectal surgeon. Disturbance in the defecation process and lack of a balanced diet are risk factors for its development, necessitating lifestyle modifications for patients. The additional intake of dietary fibers plays a crucial role in gastrointestinal function, improving intestinal motility, and preventing constipation. Inulin, as a representative of dietary fibers and a prebiotic, stimulates the growth of normal gut flora and enhances digestion. Normalizing microcirculation and vascular wall tone is also important for preventing hemorrhoids. Bioflavonoids rutin and diosmin exert phlebotropic effects on capillaries and blood vessel walls, reducing their permeability and fragility. The buffered form of diosmin enhances bioavailability and more complete absorption of the substance into the systemic circulation. The combined formulation of the dietary supplement containing diosmin, rutin, and inulin (RelieBalance) can influence several risk factors simultaneously, improving patients’ quality of life and ensuring a quicker therapeutic effect in antihemorrhoidal therapy.

CONCLUSION

The intake of the RelieBalance complex can positively affect the overall symptoms in the treatment and prevention of hemorrhoids, alleviating and improving the patient’s condition.
