Abstract:

Mandatory and supplementary laboratory and instrumental methods for the elucidation of etiology of chronic pancreatitis and prevention of its complications are considered. The modern and formerly used classifications of chronic pancreatitis are reviewed to gain a better understanding of specific etiologic, clinical, and clinico-morphological features and to improve diagnostics of this pathology. The relevant therapeutic strategies are discussed. Special emphasis is laid on selected provisions of the Russian Federal Standards for the diagnostics and treatment of the patients with chronic pancreatitis.
