Abstract

OBJECTIVE

To study preoperative risk factors affecting early extubation.

MATERIAL AND METHODS

A retrospective cohort study included 2254 patients over 18 years old who underwent open-heart surgery in 2019. To establish independent risk factors associated with ventilation time, we analyzed 96 perioperative parameters in 900 patients. In this article, we present analysis of 38 preoperative parameters.

RESULTS

Univariate and multivariate logistic regression was used to create a model characterizing preoperative period. This model was characterized by high predictive accuracy, sensitivity and specificity on test data set and internal validation data set. Independent risk factors associated with ventilation time and providing early extubation were identified. For each factor, regression coefficient was calculated to predict early extubation.

Conclsuion. Research of preoperative risk factors influencing ventilation time provided a personalized approach to each patient regarding individual risk and possibility of early extubation.
