OBJECTIVE
Evaluation of the effectiveness and anti-relapse activity of adjuvant therapy with «Multi-Gyn ActiGel» in the treatment of reproductive age patients with bacterial vaginosis (BV) and «Multi-Gyn FloraFem» in the treatment of patients with vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC)
MATERIAL AND METHODS
The study included 100 patients aged 18—45 years, mean age 31.3±3.9 years. The 50 participants had a clinical diagnosis of «bacterial vaginosis», and 50 patients — «vulvovaginal candidiasis» confirmed by polymerase chain reaction (real-time PCR Femoflor). The patients were randomized into 4 groups. In group 1 patients (n=25) with BV received Clindacin, 2% cream for 7 days, 1 dose intra-vaginally at night, and for the second stage of therapy — ActiGel was used 2 mg 2 times a day for 10 days. In group 2 patients (n=25) with BV received 2% Clindacin cream for 7 days, 1 dose intra-vaginally at night, and as the second stage of therapy — a drug containing the bacteria Lactobacillus rhamnosus GR-1 and Lactobacillus reuteri RC-14 within 14 days. In the 3rd group (n=25) with identified VVC natamycin 20 mg was prescribed in 1 suppository intra-vaginally at night for 6 days, then Multi-Gin FloraFem was administered 1 dose in the vagina at night for 5 days. Patient 4 groups (n=25) with VVC received natamycin 20 mg 1 suppository intra-vaginally overnight for 6 days, then a preparation containing the bacteria Lactobacillus rhamnosus GR-1 and Lactobacillus reuteri RC-14 for 14 days.
RESULTS
Treatment efficacy was 98% (n=98) in all four groups. However, a longer remission was observed in the groups of patients receiving adjuvant therapy with «ActiGel» — 28.8±3.3 days than in the comparison group — 21.9±2.5 days p<0.05, and adjuvant therapy with «FloraFem» — 27.9±4.1 days than in the comparison group — 22.3±3.6 days p<0.05. Compliance was 100%.
CONCLUSION
The use of ActiGel in a prolonged mode as an adjunct to etiotropic therapy was associated with an increase in the relapse-free period of bacterial vaginosis. The add-on of «AktiGel» improved the treatment results. In addition, the use of FloraFem as an adjunctive therapy in the treatment of patients with VVC increased the duration of relapse-free period. Preparations containing probiotics of lactobacilli are also effective in the complex therapy of BV and VVC, however, their effectiveness is connected with longer use.
