The paper describes the results of a retrospective study of 55 family cases of pelvic floor dysfunction - internal genital descent and prolapse (IGDP). Seventy-seven IGDP older patients without signs of connective tissue dysplasia (CTD) and without a family history of IGDP were examined to estimate the importance of different risk factors for the latter. Clinical cases of familial pelvic organ prolapse are presented. While examining the patients, the authors concentrated their attention on the detection of signs of CTD and used a clinical-genealogical method. Based on the finding, it may be suggested that along with CTD, a family history of IGDP may be one of its family history. The clinical-genealogical method used by practitioners will help choose the right surgical policy in young female patients.
