Abstract:

The paper gives the results of using mesh implants in 82 patients with different types of pelvic organ prolapse, including post-hysterectomy and recurrent prolapse. At 6 months to 2 years follow-ups, the efficacy of transobturator, transgluteal, and transvaginal systems, as well as sling systems with transvaginal and transobturator tape accesses in prolapse concurrent with stress urinary incontinence was 98.7%. During the follow-ups, there were no complications, such as vaginal erosion, mesh implant extrusion, pain syndrome, or recurrent stress urinary incontinence. Early postoperative complications constituted 2.4% (hematoma and partial suture dehiscence). Recurrence rates were also 2.4%. Based on the findings, it should be pointed out that it is necessary to identify the accurate topography of pelvic floor defects and the degree of connective tissue dysplasia and occult stress urinary incontinence and to define objectively indications for hysterectomy.
