Unsatisfactory hygienic condition of the oral cavity is a determining factor in the development of major dental diseases. In dentistry, awareness and motivation of the patient to perform preventive measures are becoming increasingly important. In order to identify the knowledge of dental health issues, a survey of the adult population of Barnaul who visit dental clinics was conducted. As a result, we obtained information about hygienic knowledge and skills, the possession of which helps to reduce the intensity and frequency of the most common dental diseases. The results of the study indicate an insufficient level of hygienic education of the population, which requires adjustment of the complex of sanitary and educational measures in dental treatment and prevention institutions.
