The present paper was designed to substantiate the necessity of the informational component in the efficacious therapeutic alliance between the patient and the medical professional. The objective of the study was to assess the importance of the dentist’s competence in the formation of the compliance behavior in the patients in need of the dental treatment. Material and methods. The study included 800 patients asked to fill a questionnaire containing alternative questions suggesting either a single or several answers. The questions were intended to elucidate how the patient understands the essence of the treatment offered to him (her) and to evaluate the role of the professional in the formation of the patient’s compliance behavior. Results. The results of the study indicate that only one quarter of the respondents passed through all stages of the treatment procedure and attributed its success to the compliance with the prescribed regimen. Conclusion. The present sociological study has demonstrated the implicit dependence between the causes and personification of the compliance.
