Myositis ossificans (OM) is a rare disease characterized by heterotopic formation of bones in the muscular mass. Traumatic neurogenic (OM), fibrodysplasia ossificans progressive, is described in the literature. Moreover, there are scattered reports on the lesions in various tissue structures including muscles of the head and neck associated with this pathology. The present article reports the results of the study of eight cases of OM affecting masticatory muscles with the description of peculiarities of their morphological structure.
