Investigation of age-sex features of the dynamics of physical development of child population has a prospective significance for medical science.
OBJECTIVE
To study the features of physiometric indicators of modern school students in Novosibirsk.
MATERIALS AND METHODS
The study included school students aged 12, 13, 14, 16 years. The research was performed using dynamometry (n=167) and spirometry (n=174). The following indicators were analyzed: body mass index, indicator of maximum muscle strength of the arms, endurance indicator and endurance coefficient, vital capacity (VC), pulmonary reserve during inspiration and expiration in each sex-age group.
RESULTS
It has been established during the study that the mean values of the maximum muscle strength of the right arm were within the range of the normative values (1993) for boys and girls of all age groups, thus a negative trend of the indicator for the 1967—2024 period has been revealed (decrease in boys by 2.8—6.3 kg, in girls — by 3.1—6.5 kg). The indicator and coefficients of endurance in examined children of all age groups were at high level. When comparing with the VC normative values (1993), it has been identified that 64.4% of children had higher VC indices than the norm, and when comparing with retrospective data, there has been a trend to increase the VC in modern adolescents on average by 0.8—1.1 l. Significant direct correlations of different strength have been established between the physiometric indicators.
CONCLUSION
The features of physiometric indicators of modern adolescents in Novosibirsk consist in a significant reduction of the maximum muscle strength of the arms and an increase in the vital capacity compared to the indicators of their predecessors, a direct dependence of physiometric indicators on the body mass index.
