Abstract:

The dependence of public health on socio-economic, industrial, and environmental parameters of the living environment determines the need to develop regional indexes that account for the diversity of living conditions of the population of Russia.

OBJECTIVE

To develop and evaluate the quality of Russian Federation’s public health regional indexes for 2005—2022 for scientific and practical research in healthcare.

MATERIALS AND METHODS

The research material were the publicly available statistical data from the Federal State Statistics Service on 63 characteristics of regions of the Russian Federation in 2005—2022. Regional indexes were developed using principal component analysis with a sequential three-stage formation of regional indexes. The quality of developed indexes was evaluated using Kaiser—Meyer—Olkin criterion, Bartlett’s criterion of sphericity, and Tucker’s congruence coefficient.

RESULTS

Annual regional indexes developed for each Russian region for 2005—2022 included Economic (includes 7 characteristics), Demographic (7 characteristics), Industrial (5 characteristics), and Social (8 characteristics) indexes. The developed indexes are characterized by high quality. The article presents quantitative values of the indexes and distribution of regions into index quintiles.

CONCLUSION

The developed indexes of regions of the Russian Federation for 2005—2022 characterize the living conditions of the population. The authors proposed possible ways of using these indices in scientific and practical healthcare activities.
