Breast arterial calcification (BAC), detected by routine mammograms, is associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular diseases development and is also more common in patients with such diseases as bone mass decrease, diabetes mellitus and chronic kidney disease. The prevalence of BAC increases with age, but the detection of this process up to 40 years is an extremely rare find. The article presents the clinical case of a young patient with a combination of BAC and iron deficiency anemia. It is believed that the association of iron with vascular calcification is mediated by its involvement in inflammation processes, as well as by mitochondrial dysfunction connected with the development of ferroptosis, namely cell death, and this causes vascular calcification. The interest is the study of the rare cases of BAC in young women, which makes it possible to identify associations with other pathological conditions and can provide new information on the mechanisms for the development of this form of vascular calcification.
