The influence of living infrastructure on the physical activity of the population is extremely diverse and is actively studied in foreign studies. To date, a rather extensive evidence base has been accumulated on the features of the influence of both individual infrastructure characteristics and the general level of passability of the residence area on various types of physical activity. This article discusses the primary effects of the living environment in terms of urban planning and infrastructure on the general, transport and recreational physical activity of the population. In order to systematize the results of foreign studies are presented on the primary parameters of the infrastructure: passability index, population density, street connectivity, variety of objects and their distance, pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure, road safety, crime-related safety, aesthetics of the area of residence. The need for further research to explain the observed patterns and develop practical recommendations on the impact on physical activity through urban planning is noted.
