Abstract:

The paper analyzes the prevalence and prevention of the consumption of psychoactive substances (PASs) (tobacco, alcohol, and narcotics) among students. It generalizes the tendencies and features of PAS consumption in students from various educational establishments in different regions of the world and Russia. Risk groups associated with the use of tobacco, alcohol, and narcotics are identified among the students. There is evidence for an obvious need for preventive measures to be implemented by universities, colleges, and secondary schools. The paper highlights the international experience with main preventive strategies, both traditional and innovative ones, within the walls of schools, universities, and colleges. It makes actual a problem in search of innovative technologies for preventing the consumption of PASs within the walls of universities and colleges, namely: the need to introduce the equal sharing strategy, by taking into account the wide involvement of contemporary youth in the virtual space: the use of Internet resources.
