Objective — to compare the effectiveness of IVF cycles performed with Sage media and LifeGlobal media by assessing fertilization and blastocyst rates as well as outcomes of frozen embryo transfers. Material and methods. In the present retrospective study 431 treatment cycles from couples undergoing ICSI or IMSI Hoffman modulation were distributed between culture media Sage (total number of oocytes MII — 2597 pieces) and LifeGlobal (total number of oocytes MII — 3155 pieces). A total of 425 patients aged between 20 and 39 years, not suffering from genetic infertility or cryptozoospermia were included. Results. The percentage of blastocyst formation was 54.4% in the media Quinn’s Advantage and 62.9% on the Global environment (p<0.1); the proportion of blastocysts formation on day 5 of development in the media Quinn’s Advantage amounted to 60.7% and 73.5% on the Global environment; the proportion of clinical pregnancies was 39.2% in the Quinn’s Advantage group and 48.0% in the Global group (p<0.05); the implantation rate was 37.1% for embryos of Quinn’s Advantage group and 46.1% for embryos of the Global group (p<0.05). Current study does not include take home baby and late term pregnancy loss rates as these data are still being collated on account of the ongoing pregnancies and patients lost to follow-up. Conclusions. The use of the Global media increases the effectiveness of IVF programs using for embryo transfer cryopreserved blastocysts compared with Quinn’s Advantage media.
