In 2013, the long-acting recombinant FSH corifollitropin (Elonva®) became available for use in IVF in Russia, offering an alternative to the traditional daily gonadotrophin injections. Material and metods. We analysed 224 COS cycles involving corifollitropin for ovarian stimulation in GnRH antagonist protocols. Results. Clinical outcomes associated with corifollitropin are comparable with those in a traditional daily gonadotrophin protocols, whereas the number of required injections is reduced. We developed clinical advice for long-acting gonadotrophin use in controlled ovarian stimulation, as well as in identification of potential pitfalls and deviations from protocol. Conclusion. This report provides an overview of the introduction of corifollitropin into clinical use in Russia and shows that it is a treatment of option for IVF patient and suitable for the most of them.
