Objective - to study the receptor status and oncoprotein C-erbB-2 expression in benign breast diseases using immunocytochemical (ICC) methods. Material and methods. 268 immunocytochemical (ICC) analyses of the expression of estrogen , progesterone and oncoprotein C-erbB-2 receptors of the cell bulk population from 100 patients with benign breast diseases were included in the study. Fibrocystic breast disease (FBD) was observed in 63 cases, fibroadenomas (FA) was diagnosed in 32 patients and 5 women had gynecomastia. Results. Positive reaction of one or two receptors was revealed in 51% of benign breast diseases. Coexpression of ER+ and PR+ was observed in 35% of patients (47% with FA, 27% with FBD and 60% with gynecomastia). Conclusion. The detection of estrogen and progesterone receptor expression in hormone-related dysplastic and benign breast diseases as well as the correlation between this expression and proliferative and dysplastic changes in the epithelium of breast lobules and ducts require the use of novel approaches to the treatment of this pathology.
