Objective - to study the disorders of bone metabolism in postmenopause of women with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM). Material and methods.150 postmenopausal women were investigated: group 1 with type 2 DM (n=80) and group 2 without type 2 DM (n=70). The mineral density of bone tissue and calcium-phosphorus exchange were analyzed. Results. Type 2 DM in combination with post-menopausal estrogen decrease was associated with severe bone and metabolic disorders. Conclusion. Postmenopausal patients with type 2 DM have increased risk of osteoporosis and need hormonal replacement therapy.
