Abstract:

Objective. To evaluate of the efficiency of the developed Autoplan system in the study of the variant anatomy for dividing the portal vein (PV) according to the data of computed tomography. Material and methods. The Autoplan system was used to analyze 100 abdominal computed tomograms using intravenous bolus contrast injection. The patients were divided according to the types of PV division on the basis of the most common Nakamura’s classification. Results. Postprocessing consisted in obtaining a 3D vein model to display their variant anatomy. The most common type of PV division was found to be type A (the classical type of division into right and left trunks), which was observed in 49%. Conclusion. Thus, different non-classical types of PV division were observed in more than 50% of the patients. This information should be used to plan surgeries on hepatobiliary system. The use of computed tomography-based simulation makes it possible to study the anatomy of PV in more visual details.
