It is known that local, or locoregional, relapse develops in approximately 35% of patients with locally advanced non-small cell lung cancer after previous chemoradiotherapy. It has been proven that the use of active treatment tactics, i.e. conducting a repeated course of radiation therapy in this group of patients allows to achieve stabilization of the tumor process and increase life expectancy compared with patients who have not been given a second course of treatment. In the foreign literature there are results of studies in which the effectiveness of various modes and methods of radiation therapy for relapse of lung cancer was studied. This article describes the results of studies on the tolerability and effectiveness of various re-exposure options for relapses of lung cancer. Also their own experience of re-exposure in relapse of lung cancer is presented. Our results indicate that a repeated course of radiation therapy is satisfactorily tolerated by patients and can achieve stabilization of the tumor process, as well as increase life expectancy. A second course of radiation therapy can be recommended for patients who are diagnosed with localized regional relapse after chemoradiotherapy, but a thorough detailed assessment of the prognosis factors is necessary.
