Myofibroblastic tumors of the lung are an extremely rare neoplasm that accounts for 0.04—1% of all its tumors. The tumor is characterized by an intermediate malignant potential and prone to metastasis and invasive growth in case of SMA and ALK overexpression, as confirmed by an immunohistochemical method. Surgery is a basic treatment for these patients. The paper gives data on four patients with myofibroblastic tumor of the lung, who have been surgically treated at the Thoracic Department, P.A. Herzen Moscow Oncology Research Institute. It describes a rare clinical case of recurrent myofibroblastic tumor of the left main bronchus after endoscopic treatment in childhood.
