Prostate cancer ranks second in male cancer morbidity patterns. Different therapeutic approaches from radical treatment to active follow-up are used to treat patients with prostate cancer. A new prostate cancer treatment named focal therapy has recently come into active development. The paper describes focal therapy options, such as laser interstitial thermotherapy, photodynamic therapy, their mechanisms of action and a treatment process and presents the results of foreign trials of the efficiency of these methods. It gives information on the use of an electrochemical lysis method and irreversible electroporation to treat patients with prostate cancer.
