The paper considers the etiology, morphological and immunohistochemical characteristics, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, and treatment of inflammatory miofibroblastic tumors of the digestive tract. It gives data on causes of relapses and conservative treatments. It is shown that the main difficulty in their treatment is due to the choice of an adequate resection volume and to an unpredictable postoperative period; and a search for significant criteria for differentiation between the aggressive and non-aggressive forms of inflammatory tumors is assumed to be as a promising area to predict the outcome of their treatment.
