The article presents the main biographical milestones, the scientific and pedagogical contribution, as well as the social activities of the Russian dermatovenerologist, corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, Academician of the Academy of Medical Sciences of the USSR O.N. Podvysotskaya (1884—1958). One of the leaders of domestic dermatology in the mid-twentieth century, the creator of a new dermatological school, characterized by pathophysiological areas, O.N. Podvysotskaya is the author of about 100 scientific works devoted mainly to three areas of dermatology: dermatomycosis, cutaneous tuberculosis and skin reactivity. Academician O.N. Podvysotskaya was also one of the first organizers of the Leningrad Lupozorium. Over the years of her teaching career, she prepared a plenty of specialists — associate professors and professors (S.E. Gorbovitsky, P.N. Kashkin, etc.). O.N. Podvysotskaya took an active part in the work of All-Union Institute of Experimental Medicine, and later in the work of the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences, of which she became a full member since the founding of the Academy of Medical Sciences in 1944.
