There is an increase in the proportion of women of reproductive age among patients with HIV infection in the countries of Eastern Europe and Central Asia. The gynecological health of an HIV-infected woman and preservation of the possibility of having a healthy child is a priority for WHO activities. HIV-infected women have a higher risk of HPV infection than HIV-negative ones, as well as a higher risk of persistence and malignancy. We have attempted to study the prevalence of human papillomavirus (HPV) among HIV-infected women in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. HIV-infected women in this region have been found to have a high incidence of HPV infection and a wide range of detectable HPV genotypes of high oncogenic risk. The structure of the identified HPV genotypes in the republics was different. The obtained data should be taken into account during cervical screening in this category of patients (for example, to conduct a HPV test when registering at the AIDS center for all HIV-infected women, regardless of age, using the HPV test with at least 14 high-oncogenic HPV genotypes). It is necessary to find ways to solve this problem by counseling HIV-infected women and their partners, educational seminars on the need for screening for HPV in both HIV-infected women and the general population.
