The significant frequency of recurrent genital herpes virus infection in combination with metabolic disorders is a serious medical and social problem that significantly affects the reproductive function and worsens patients’ quality of life. Objective. To evaluate the clinical and immunological effectiveness and the rationale behind administration of Panavir as a part of combination therapy of recurrent genital herpes in men with metabolic disorders. Materials and methods. The study population included 48 men with recurrent genital herpes and metabolic disorders. Clinical effectiveness of the combination therapy, results of immunological tests, and the lipid profile were evaluated both pre- and post-therapy. Results. Panavir as a part of combination therapy using Panavir reduced the number of recurrent episodes, while being well-tolerated and having no adverse events. Conclusion. Systemic administration of Panavir as a part of combination therapy for recurrent genital herpes in men with metabolic disorders reduces the intensity of clinical signs and frequency of recurrent episodes of genital herpes and normalizes lipid metabolism indicators, thus increasing treatment effectiveness.
