Relevance. Balanoposthitis accounts for 47% of penile skin diseases and 11% of cases when patients seek medical advice in clinics or visit specialists for urogenital infections. Objective. The study was aimed at assessing the efficacy of monotherapy of balanoposthitis with topical small-molecular-weight interferon inducer in the form of Cycloferon liniment compared to topical application of saline with indifferent dusting powder and coformulated cream with hydrocortisone, natamycin, and neomycin. Material and methods. We investigated trigger factors of studied dermatosis, composition of rash microflora, severity of clinical symptoms, the level of adherence to treatment in 60 patients with balanoposthitis. Results. We determined the premorbid baseline of balanoposthitis, detected the prevalence of viruses in the microflora of the skin of the balanus and inner layer of the foreskin and minor role of Candida fungi in the development of the pathological process. Conclusions. We observed significant clinical efficacy of Cycloferon liniment, which was reflected in reduced severity and duration of the studied clinical parameters, subjective sensations, long-term remission, and higher value of compliance index. The comparative evaluation of the treatments under study has shown that indifferent topical therapy was the least effective one. No significant differences in treatment outcomes were observed between the coformulated cream and Cycloferon liniment.
