It was studied mortality indexes within one year after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) in patients of different age groups and the factors associated with the occurrence of adverse event were established. 866 patients underwent CABG. In year about 204 (23.6%) patients could not be obtained; these patients were excluded from the study. The remaining 662 (76.4%) patients were divided into 4 groups according to their age. The first group consisted of patients up to 60 years old (n=363), the second group - 60-64 years (n=140), the third group - 65-69 years (n=88), the fourth group -70 years and older (n=71). Within a year after CABG mortality of patients was 3.8% and was not significantly different in different age groups. Cardiovascular mortality was higher in patients aged 65-69 years than in younger groups and in patients 70 years and older. Multiple logistic regression analysis revealed independent factors determining death including preoperative atherogenic index, decreased left ventricular ejection fraction, renal failure after surgery, duration of cardiopulmonary bypass and myocardial infarction in anamnesis. It was concluded that age per se does not influence on one-year mortality after coronary artery bypass grafting.
