Paraxial spinal nerve block also known as ESP-block or erector spinae plane block is one of the most effective and simple interventional methods for pain management. This approach ensures long-term analgesia as a component of multimodal perioperative analgesia and in patients with chronic pain. This review is devoted to history of this method, anatomy of concerned areas, various clinical aspects and technical features of this procedure, as well as indications and contraindications.
