OBJECTIVE
Conducting a preclinical study of the effect of an ultrasound broadband complex-modulated “split” signal on the hard tissues of teeth and jaw bone of experimental animals.
MATERIAL AND METHODS
The study involved 12 male rabbits of the “Soviet Chinchilla” breed divided into control and experimental groups. At the beginning of the study, rabbits from the experimental group underwent multiple measurements of the velocity of the ultrasound broadband complex-modulated “split” signal were carried out by coaxially fixed conical separate-combined piezoelectric transducers (PET) with a working part of the conical lenses of 1 mm and with adaptive acoustic cuffs. From each anatomical zone, measurements were obtained in the amount of n=30. The exposure time was recorded in the “Pro-VUD” program.
RESULTS
The average ultrasonic wave velocity (UWV) through the central incisors on the upper jaw on the right (1692±27 m/s) and left (1744±24 m/s) was 28.2 and 29% lower than the UWV through the central incisors on the corresponding sides of the lower jaw (2353±43 m/s on the right and 2459±34 m/s on the left). Microcomputer tomography of the studied tissue samples in the control group did not reveal the formation of pathological foci, which are characterized by a decrease in tissue density. Comparative histological analysis of the teeth of rabbits in the control and experimental groups did not reveal any pathomorphological changes.
CONCLUSION
According to the results of the X-ray and histological study comparing the control and experimental groups: hard dental tissues, pulp tissues, bone tissue of the upper and lower jaws in the experimental group of animals are resistant to the effects of an ultrasonic signal with a carrier frequency of 4.125 MHz and an amplitude of 50—60 dB for 146.5 μs.
