The authors analyze the works published in the last 5 years concerning the problem of surgical treatment of patients with pelvic organ prolapse of the II stage and more according to the POP-Q classification. Advantages and disadvantages of the most frequently used surgeries, such as laparoscopic sacrocolpopexy and transvaginal sacroiliac fixation, are analyzed. However, the effectiveness, frequency of recurrences, defecation disorders, mesh-associated complications etc. are unknown. The problem of surgical treatment of pelvic organ prolapse needs further investigation. At present, the choice of surgical technique should be based on the studied results, using an individual approach in each case.
