THE AIM OF THE STUDY

Was to investigate and confirm the clinical efficacy and safety of combined treatment with Multi-Gyn Actigel and glycyrrhizic acid in patients with post radiation lesions of the vaginal mucosa.

MATERIAL AND METHODS

A comparative randomized open-label trial was conducted in 106 female patients with cancer who underwent combined radiation therapy and had a high risk of vaginal epithelial radiation injury. The study group included 52 patients who received the Multi-Gyn Actigel vaginal gel and a 0.1% solution of activated glycyrrhizic acid in the form of a spray after undergoing a course of combined therapy. The control group included 54 patients who used other vaginal suppositories after the course of combined radiation therapy. Examination of all the patients included physical and gynecological examinations, an extended vaginoscopy, cytological examination of the vaginal contents, and a vaginal pH test. The patients independently evaluated the severity of their discomfort using a visual analogue scale after 3 and 6 months.

RESULTS

The combined use of the vaginal gel Multi-Gyn Actigel and 0.1% solution of activated glycyrrhizic acid has been found to be an effective method of treatment of patients with post radiation damage of the vaginal mucosa.

CONCLUSION

The vaginal gel Multi-Gyn Actigel and 0.1% solution of activated glycyrrhizic acid can be considered as the agents of choice for the prevention and treatment of radiation lesions of the vaginal epithelium in patients with oncogynecological diseases.
