Abstract:

The efficacy of the hemostatic drugs tranexam (tranexamic acid) versus amben (para-aminomethylbenzoic acid) was studied in 36 puerperas aged 18 to 40 years with early and late postpartum hemorrhage developing after vaginal birth. The hemostatic drugs were administered in combination with uterotonics and surgery. Tranexamic acid and amben as part of combination treatment were found to be comparable in their effectiveness in the puerperas with postpartum hemorrhage, which may recommend these agents equally for use in early and late postpartum hemorrhage. However, pharmacoeconomic analysis indicated a considerable reduction in costs for treating one patient and the total expenditures of the maternity hospital when using amben.
