OBJECTIVE

To determine diagnostic markers and substantiate the use of the software complex «Morpho» for the diagnosis of changes in dehydrated oral fluid in the early postoperative period during complex treatment of periodontitis.

MATERIAL AND METHODS

The study involved 89 patients with moderate and severe chronic periodontitis. Oral fluid was analyzed before surgery and on the 10^th day after surgery. Inclusion criteria: moderate or severe chronic periodontitis, absence of exacerbations of concomitant diseases, age 20–67 years, and loyalty to treatment. Informed consent was obtained. Patients were randomly divided into three groups based on the postoperative protocol. The control group included patients with healthy periodontium.

RESULTS

Using the method of wedge-shaped dehydration of oral fluid and analyzing the obtained facies using the programs Morphotest, Saliva 1.1, and Vector, the most objective diagnostic markers for analyzing the dehydrated drop of oral fluid were identified, allowing for early diagnosis of the disease and selection of the patient’s management strategy in the postoperative period: the percentage of the facies occupied by dendrites (inorganic inclusions), the percentage of the facies with red staining, the degree of red staining predominance in the facies, and the average width of the dendrite.

CONCLUSIONS

The study of oral fluid crystallograms is an accessible diagnostic method that can be used to clarify and assess the nosological status of inflammatory periodontal diseases. The results of the study provide a basis for recommending the inclusion of background-resonance and electromagnetic radiation in the complex treatment of moderate and severe chronic periodontitis during the recovery period, in accordance with the proposed methodology.
